Can you calculate r1 r2

Not off tangent at all, you actually make a good point. HappyHippyDad - Esteemed. Reaction score 4, Apologies abit very vague.

Upon undertaking a conditon report and the circuits have been energised for many years. For socket circuits odviously the correct test procedure needs to be done. Yet you could take a Zs on the same circuit and it could be more like 0. Also parallel paths occasionally bringing Zs values down. Please discuss. There is nothing to discuss. Reaction score 3, So they do. My point is simple enough isnt it?? Last edited: Jul 29, No your point isn't simple enough, I haven't got a clue what you are talking about here.

You say some people just do a Zs test, and as I pointed out some people do no tests at all. Neither of these makes them correct just because some people do it.

For the reasons i have explained above. Im after others opinions. It really is simple buddy. It really is. Darkwood Mod. Reaction score 10, Sorry boys- Stop this abrasive attitude it can only send this thread downhill, if you cannot be civil with each other stop replying and move on.

If you want to carry on then the thread will be closed and as we do not condone this type of abrasive attitude and we will implement a ban - if you feel any member is out of order then use the report button please don't take it on yourself to exacerbate the situation.

Last edited: Jul 30, Andy78 - Mentor. Reaction score 12, It is permissable to calculate Zs from measured values. It is always preferable to measure Zs though. It must be measured. The main purpose of EICR testing is to ascertain compliance for disconnection times and safety for continued use of circuits.

I always perform a full range of tests on all circuits. I think this is what you were asking about. Andy78 said:. Deleted member The form being completed is a 'Schedule of test results'. As such there should be no calculated values. DaveyD - Arms. Reaction score Agree with Andy. You can calculate or measure ZS. If you are confirming polarity another way then you can also test and record the circuit cpc on radials with an R2 test.

Adhara Nonloso Explainer. What is Zs and Ze? Janne Johannsmeyer Pundit. What is the purpose of ZS test? The main reason for earth loop impedance testing — which is often simply called loop testing — is to verify that, if a fault occurs in an electrical installation, sufficient current will flow to operate the fuse or circuit breaker protecting the faulty circuit within a predetermined time.

Mara Brach Pundit. What is a ZS reading? R1 is the resistance of Circuit Phase conductor and R2 is the resistance of Circuit Earth Conductor Ze is the External supply Impedance of earth fault current path loop to Earth Zs is the total Impedance of earth fault current path loop to Earth. Andresa Tumko Pundit. How do you calculate cable length?

Calculating Cable Lengths. Victoriya Allica Teacher. On a periodic you may calculate. No reason why not, and it's a waste of time doing both. You can then calculate the Zs if you wish - No point doing both. Lectrician , 13 Oct RMS , 13 Oct As I said there's nothing wrong with agreeing with the Client that the test is unnecessary. However, it is not correct to subtract Ze from Zs and so it should never be calculated.

As someone has said, if it is an agreed limitation then LIM is correct. Thanks guys. I thought it was ok to calculate it and had done for years then my boss said that our nic inspector didn't like it. Obviously in a new install then this would be measured before energized. Thanks again. Joined: 3 Sep Country:. Select the supplier or trade you require, enter your location to begin your search.
